There will be no garbage collection or recycling on Monday, May 26, 2008 because of the Memorial Day holiday. Monday’s collection will be moved to collection on Tuesday, May 27, 2008. If your regular collection day is on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 we ask that you put out your materials for collection on Wednesday, May 28, 2008.

There will be no yard waste pickup on Wednesday, May 28, 2008.

The Village of Freeport Water Department will commence its annual water main flushing program on Monday, April 21, 2008. The purpose is to flush out sediment that collects in the mains. We will be opening hydrants in neighborhoods North of Sunrise Highway between Monday April 21 and Friday May 16, 2008. The work will be performed weekdays and start at 9:00 AM. We expect to complete flushing daily by 4:00 PM. There will be NO flushing on weekends or legal holidays.

During the flushing period, the water may temporarily appear rusty as flushing is going on in your neighborhood. However, the water is absolutely safe to drink. To avoid inconvenience, check the water before doing laundry. It is recommended that washing clothes be performed after 7:00 PM. Keep a bottle of water in the refrigerator for drinking and cooking. If you experience any discoloration after flushing is completed, let your COLD water run for 15 minutes.

The annual flushing program is one of the many regular maintenance activities we perform to make sure we are providing you with the best possible water service.

During the months of December to September, all yard waste must now be placed in open containers or bundles. Bagged yard waste will not be collected.
Bagged leaves will only be collected from October 1st to November 30th.
