
August 28, 2010- Mayor Andrew Hardwick spends time with his fellow Kiwanians on a lovely Saturday afternoon at Freeport’s Waterfront Park, as they joined together for their fourth annual barbeque. The annual event, which always takes place in Freeport, is open to all Kiwanians, their friends, and family. The event brings together 10 clubs from different towns on Long Island’s South Shore. Mayor Andrew Hardwick thanks the Kiwanis Club for their service and dedication to the Village of Freeport, and the communities of the world.

August 23, 2010- Mayor Andrew Hardwick (left) greets Coach Mario Espinosa (right) and members of the Freeport PAL Red Storm Boys Soccer Team on their recent visit to Village Hall. During their visit, Mayor Andrew Hardwick placed a gold medal and Village of Freeport pin on each member, which generated a loud round of applause from those attending the August 23, 2010 Village Board meeting. The team is comprised of boys under of the age of 14, all whom have been involved since they were under the age of 10. This championship team is part of the Long Island Junior Soccer League, one of the largest youth soccer leagues in the country. The five-time division champions have won gold and placed first for the spring 2010 season. The Freeport Red Storm will begin the fall 2010 season as a Division 1 team, which is the highest for the Long Island Junior Soccer League. Mayor Andrew Hardwick congratulates the Freeport PAL Red Storm on their success and wishes their continued success for the upcoming season.

August 23, 2010- Mayor Andrew Hardwick (left) welcomes members of the Zion Cathedral Cedarmore Core Big Brothers Association to Village Hall and thanked the organization for their dedication and support of Freeport’s youth. The Zion Cathedral Cedarmore Core Big Brothers Association is a community based organization of approximately 100 volunteers that mentor young men and women, utilizing basketball as a platform. The association is an all volunteer program that began at Freeport’s Martin Luther King Park in 1997, and has moved to North East Park due to growth. The program, which mentors close to 400 youths per summer, was initiated by Bishop Frank O. White, leader of Zion Cathedral Church of God in Christ, in Freeport. Bishop White takes pride in knowing that James and Theresa Aydelott have taken the reigns and are successfully carrying out the mentoring program.

August 16, 2010- Mayor Andrew Hardwick presents a citation to Paul Conte, as he is honored at the 12th Annual Freeport Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing. Paul Conte is the owner of Paul Conte Cadillac and Paul Conte Chevrolet, two long time Freeport businesses. Mayor Andrew Hardwick thanks Paul Conte for his commitment to the Village of Freeport.

June 28, 2010– Mayor Andrew Hardwick along with Woodward Children’s Center administrators, and special guests, attend the Woodward graduation and moving up ceremony. Woodward Children’s Center, located in Freeport, provides educational services to children ages 5 through 21.

June 24, 2010- Mayor Andrew Hardwick joins Doris Allyn, wife of the late Robert Allyn, and members of the Freeport community at a street renaming ceremony in honor of Robert Allyn. Mr. Allyn was a long time Freeport business owner and friend to the Freeport community. His company, Allyn Oil has provided heating and security services to residents throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties for over 60 years. Mayor Andrew Hardwick found it a privilege to honor such a great Freeport legend, and hopes that Mr. Allyn will never be forgotten.

June 24, 2010 -- Mayor Andrew Hardwick congratulates Girl Scouts Collaboration Troup 4335 at their first Annual Prince and the Scout Ball. This evening affair gave the members of Troop 4335 an opportunity to be princess for the day, while celebrating with the male figures in their lives.

June 21, 2010 -- On a hot summer day in Freeport, construction workers make good on Long Island Rail Road President Helena Williams’ promise to Mayor Andrew Hardwick and the residents of Freeport; a promise to revitalize the Freeport LIRR station. Mayor Andrew Hardwick has sent a written thank you to LIRR President Helena Williams, as her efforts support Mayor Hardwick’s goal to keep Freeport safe, clean, and green.

Montana’s has provided great food and service to Freeport since 1989. Montana’s is located at 13 Atlantic Avenue, in Freeport.

May 1, 2010 – Leading concerned students, parents, and members of the community on a peace march through the Village of Freeport are Mayor Andrew Hardwick (center), along with school officials. The half-mile peace march gave supporters an opportunity to make a statement of hope for peace. The peace march ended at Freeport High School, with a well attended Health and Wellness Fair. The peace march and Health and Wellness Fair were arranged by Freeport Cares, a collaboration of the Freeport Schools, the Village of Freeport and community based organizations.

FEB. 8, 2010 -- On the day the Boy Scouts of America turned 100, Artie Juers (far left), a committee chairman with Boy Scout Troop 18 in Freeport, brought nine scouts to the Board of Trustees meeting at Village Hall. The scouts were there to listen to public speaking as one of the requirements to earn a Communications Merit Badge. They were invited up to the dais to meet with Mayor Andrew Hardwick (center), Trustee Jorge A. Martinez (far right) and Deputy Mayor Robert T. Kennedy (to the far left, out of view). Trustees Carmen Piñeyro and William H. White Jr. were absent. Each scout received an official Freeport Village pin.
