The Village of Freeport Water Department will commence its annual water main flushing program on Monday, April 22nd. We will be opening hydrants in neighborhoods North of Sunrise Hwy and all dead-end mains throughout the Village. The flushing period will run between Monday, April 22nd. and Friday, May 3rd.
During the flushing period, the water may temporarily appear rusty as flushing is going on in your neighborhood. However, the water is absolutely safe to drink. To avoid inconvenience, please check the water before doing laundry. If you experience any discoloration after flushing is completed, let your COLD water run for 15 minutes.
The annual flushing program is one of the many regular maintenance activities we perform to make sure we are providing you with the best possible water service.
